Location: Greater London
This varied role involves a variety of tasks and responsibilities working closely with the Practice Manager. We are a friendly busy GP practice in Chingford looking for a PART‑TIME Administrator/GP Receptionist to join our team for 18 hours a week across three days a week
:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
Applicants must have experience using Emis Web software and be able to work independently, accurately and reliably in a fast‑paced environment.
In addition, applicants must be willing to flexibly cover annual leave during the week, as and when required, and local residency is preferred.
ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will provide high‑quality administrative and reception support within a busy GP practice, playing a key role in the smooth day‑to‑day running of the service.
Responsibilities include:
- Processing referrals and correspondence, screening and coding clinical documents, and managing document workflows
- Maintaining accurate patient records and liaising with hospitals, clinicians and other healthcare professionals
- Managing appointments, handling patient enquiries in person, by telephone and online, and delivering a professional, patient‑centred service at all times
- Supporting and mentoring reception staff, assisting with staff induction and training, and managing system access for new clinicians and employees
- Monitoring administrative processes to ensure efficiency and compliance, maintaining CQC logs, audits and documentation to keep the practice inspection‑ready and compliant with NHS policies and procedures
- Polite, confident, reliable and accurate
- Flexible, co‑operative, motivated and diligent
- High level of integrity and sensitive/empathetic in distressing situations
- Ability to work under pressure, both independently and as part of a team
- Experience of Emis Web software
- Experience working with the general public/patients
- Experience with in NHS primary care and a broad knowledge of General Practice
- Satisfactory Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check
- Solid references from two previous employers and comprehensive HR checks
- Availability to work between 8am and 6.30pm Monday to Friday
- Strong time‑management, problem‑solving and analytical skills
- Competence in Microsoft Office and Outlook and a clear, polite telephone manner
- Ability to follow policy and procedure, and to work as a team member
- Preferably lives within an easy commute to the practice
- GCSE grade A to C in Maths and English
- Emis Web experience
