Cabinet Support Officer - Hammersmith and Fulham Council
Location:
Hammersmith. Working 5 days per week in the office. Pay: £22.86 PAYE / £29.00 umbrella per hour.
Contract:
6-12 months initially, with the view to extend.
We are partnering with Hammersmith and Fulham Council to recruit an experienced Cabinet Support Officer to provide high‑level policy and administrative support to 2–3 Cabinet Members. This is a fast‑paced and varied role at the heart of local government, supporting the Leader's Office and wider Administration to deliver key priorities for residents.
Key Responsibilities- Provide proactive administrative and policy support to Cabinet Members and the Administration.
- Manage complex diaries, inboxes, correspondence and case‑work efficiently.
- Draft responses, prepare briefing notes and collate high‑quality papers for meetings.
- Carry out research and summarise information clearly for senior stakeholders.
- Coordinate meetings, agendas, venue arrangements, minutes and action tracking.
- Build strong working relationships across the Council and with external stakeholders.
- Maintain political awareness, confidentiality, discretion and sound judgement at all times.
- Support site visits, public events and meetings outside core office hours where required.
You will be an organised, confident, and highly professional support officer with experience working with senior stakeholders in a fast‑moving environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to prioritise workload, work to tight deadlines and handle sensitive information with discretion.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Excellent diary, inbox, agenda and meeting management skills.
- Strong analytical ability and the confidence to summarise complex information clearly.
- Experience producing accurate, high‑quality briefing materials.
- A solution‑focused approach and sound judgement.
- The ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
- Knowledge of local government or political environments, ideally.
