The pathway assistant role is an exciting opportunity to join our administration team in the Endoscopy Unit which provides first class administration and reception services to the Division. As part of the Patient Pathway team, the Pathway Assistant/Receptionist plays a key front-facing administrative role within the Endoscopy Unit, providing a professional and welcoming reception service to patients, visitors, and staff. The role involves acting as the first point of contact within the department, ensuring patients are greeted courteously, enquiries are handled efficiently, and the reception area runs smoothly on a daily basis.
Key responsibilities include tracking patients through their care pathways, processing clinical correspondence in a timely manner, and providing essential administrative support to the Clinical Nurse Endoscopists and wider multidisciplinary team to help maintain an organised and efficient service.
The role also involves answering telephone calls, responding to patient and staff enquiries, managing reception duties, updating patient information, and supporting the day-to-day administrative functions of the Endoscopy Unit. In addition, the post holder will provide general administrative support to the clinical, management, and administrative teams to ensure the smooth running of the department.

The successful candidate must have excellent customer service and communication skills, you will need to be enthusiastic, self-motivated with a pro-active approach towards teamwork and service delivery. You will have a high degree of empathy, diplomacy and sensitivity with an acute awareness of the needs of both patients’ and the clinical teams.
In addition, you should have good organisational skills supported by previous administrative experience. You will be required to possess a competent level of IT skills using Microsoft Office software packages, experience in the use the Epic (Patient administration Record) or similar IT systems will be an advantage but not essential.
