One of VWA's clients, a leading school in central London, is looking for a Music Administrator to join their Music Department on a temporary basis, covering a leave of absence. This is a great opportunity for someone with some basic admin experience to get stuck into a busy, varied role.

About the Role:

This is a hands‑on administrative role supporting the Music Department Manager and the wider department with the day‑to‑day running of a busy and varied music programme. Previous experience in a music setting is not essential - the client is simply looking for someone switched on, organised and happy to get stuck in.

The responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
  • Providing general administrative support to the Music Department Manager
  • Taking and publishing minutes from the weekly departmental meeting, and managing the Music Library
  • Responding to departmental enquiries, including phone calls and a shared inbox
  • Supporting the events diary and liaising with other departments on event planning and logistics
  • Creating publications, such as handbooks, timetables, rehearsal schedules and concert programmes
  • Coordinating instrumental ensembles, including maintaining the music database and attendance records
  • Supporting the organisation of concerts and events, both in‑house and at external venues
  • Coordinating music exams
  • Acting as first point of contact for the Choral Society
Candidate Specification:
  • Music experience is not essential, but candidates should be switched on and keen to learn
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Confident communicator, comfortable liaising with staff, pupils, parents and external suppliers
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and juggle multiple priorities
  • Positive, proactive attitude and happy to get stuck in
Additional Information:
  • This is a temporary role with an ASAP start, running until 15th November 2026, with the possibility of extension to the end of term (9th December 2026)
  • This is a term-time only role - the successful candidate will not be required during the October half-term (19th - 30th October inclusive)
  • Hourly rate of c.£15 + holiday pay
  • Fully on-site, based in central London
