Supporting the Successful Delivery of Examinations
Examinations are an important part of the student journey, and the effective organisation and administration of exams is essential to ensuring students can progress and achieve their qualifications. At Stanmore College, we are committed to providing a professional, accurate and supportive examinations service for students and staff, while maintaining the highest standards of compliance and confidentiality.
We are seeking a Deputy Examinations Officer to join our Exams team and support the delivery of internal and external examinations and assessments across the College. You will play a key role in ensuring examinations are planned and administered effectively, working closely with students, staff, invigilators, awarding bodies and colleagues across the College.
Join Us at an Exciting Time
Stanmore College is entering a transformative period, supported by a £60 million redevelopment investment that will create a modern, sustainable campus for learners, staff and the wider community. As we continue to develop our services and prepare for the future, we are committed to ensuring that our systems and processes support students and staff effectively. The Exams team plays an important role in this, ensuring examinations are delivered smoothly, securely and in line with regulatory requirements.
The Role
Working closely with the Examinations Manager, you will support the day-to-day organisation and administration of examinations and assessments across the College. You will also deputise for the Examinations Manager when required, helping to ensure continuity of service and effective delivery during busy examination periods.
You will:
- Support the organisation and administration of internal and external examinations, from entries through to results and certificates.
- Deputise for the Examinations Manager when required, ensuring the effective operation of the Exams team.
- Ensure examination activity is carried out in accordance with JCQ regulations, awarding body requirements and College procedures.
- Submit examination entries, amendments and withdrawals accurately and within published deadlines.
- Coordinate examination timetables, rooming and examination arrangements in liaison with MIS and other College teams.
- Support the training, briefing and development of invigilators and relevant staff.
- Ensure examination papers, confidential materials and scripts are securely managed in line with examination regulations.
- Support the administration of examination access arrangements and work closely with the Access Arrangements Team to meet students' needs.
- Maintain accurate examination records and data across College systems and awarding body platforms, identifying and resolving discrepancies where required.
- Liaise with awarding bodies, students and staff to respond to queries and resolve examination-related issues promptly and professionally.
- Support the secure and accurate distribution of examination results and certificates.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of examination systems, processes and service delivery.
Why This Role Matters
The Exams team plays a vital role in ensuring students can complete their qualifications and receive their results in a fair, secure and timely manner. The work requires a high level of accuracy, organisation and attention to detail, particularly during busy examination periods when deadlines and regulatory requirements must be carefully managed.
In this role, you will help ensure that examinations run smoothly…
