Receptionist (Part-Time 4 days)

City of London £31,00012-month Fixed Term Contract (maternity cover)

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced receptionist to take charge of the front desk at a professional services office in London. As the first point of contact, you'll make sure every visitor feels looked after, while keeping meeting spaces, supplies and day-to-day office logistics running smoothly behind the scenes. You'll work alongside another receptionist and closely with the Office Manager, offering the opportunity to take on added responsibilities in the Office Managers absence.

Our client is looking for someone who is presentable, highly organised and trustworthy with confidential matters, who is comfortable with Outlook and everyday office technology, and who takes real pride in looking after people and delivering a first class experience. This is a part-time role, working 4 days a week, Monday - Thursday. Hours are 8am - 5pm.

What you'll do:
  • Be the first point of contact clients and guests see, checking them in and letting colleagues know they've arrived
  • Oversee visitor access, including passes and security procedures, and work with the building's security team when needed
  • Look after hospitality for meetings, from making drinks to arranging catering orders with external suppliers
  • Keep the reception area and meeting rooms looking their best, with stationery, brochures and reading material always on hand
  • Check kitchen and stationery supplies each day and place orders before anything runs low
  • Get meeting technology ready in advance, making sure screens, audio and video calls are working before attendees arrive
  • Manage room bookings so spaces are used well and double bookings are avoided
  • Play a key part in planning internal gatherings such as team lunches, staff meetings and client events
  • Handle post, couriers and parcels safely and without delay
  • Welcome new joiners by showing them around, introducing them to the team and sorting their building access
  • Act as a link with building management and contractors on maintenance and facilities issues
  • Pick up general admin as it comes up, including printing, scanning, filing and running errands
  • Provide cover for the Office Manager during leave and other absences
What you'll need:
  • Previous experience in a similar Front of House receptionist position
  • Experience working within financial or professional services is essential
  • Clear, professional communication, both written and face to face
  • Strong organisation skills and a calm approach to handling competing demands
  • A discreet, dependable approach to confidential information
  • A genuine passion for delivering great service and a willingness to muck in wherever help is needed
