Job Profile Summary
Lead the Procurement Operations function, providing clear direction and line management for a small, high-performing team. Drive cross-team and stakeholder collaboration, setting and leading the overall direction for the Group Procurement team’s Mission and Vision. Champion the Procurement Strategy, business partnering, Business Plan, Value Framework, Procurement Policy, spend analytics, technology enablement, procurement team development, supplier collaboration, regulatory standards, risk, governance, and compliance.
This role is pivotal in taking the Procurement function to its next stage of maturity, ensuring the successful deployment and adoption of a suite of procurement contract, supplier management, and onboarding tools. You will ensure that procurement is structured to service both current and future business requirements, providing the necessary documentation, systems, and reporting to meet stakeholder and business needs. The role requires alignment with the organisation’s transformation agenda, maintaining regulatory compliance, and ensuring accurate, reliable data management and processing of procurement contracts and materials in accordance with governance requirements.
Job Description- Lead the Procurement Operations function, including direct line management of a small team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional development.
- Create and implement the Group Procurement Programme Office in line with the Procurement Target Operating Model, allocating, prioritising, monitoring, and managing procurement workloads, renewals, and governance processes.
- Drive the Procurement Strategy, aligning practices across all Chaucer Group entities and delivering value for money through market intelligence, sourcing, and supplier collaboration.
- Oversee the deployment and optimisation of procurement contract management, supplier management, and onboarding tools, ensuring successful adoption and integration into business processes.
- Ensure the Procurement function provides the structure, documentation, systems, and reporting necessary to meet evolving stakeholder and business needs.
- Manage the Business Partnering Framework, maximising value‑add, savings, and benefits delivery through effective engagement with key business stakeholders.
- Accountable for the Supplier Collaboration Framework, supporting Strategic Procurement Managers and Procurement Managers in delivering cost, risk, performance, relationship, sustainability, and innovation‑led value.
- Facilitate compliance and third‑party risk management activities, ensuring all procurement activities meet relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Lead the development, delivery, and annual review of the Business Plan, incorporating Group Procurement function goals and objectives, and reporting on team performance, benefits, savings, people, and culture.
- Own the Value Framework, reporting to senior leaders on procurement priorities, savings, and benefits delivery.
- Ensure accurate and reliable data management and processing of procurement contracts and materials, maintaining robust governance and compliance.
- Champion the organisation’s transformation agenda within Procurement, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives and change initiatives.
- Lead engagement with key senior Chaucer operational leaders, fostering a collaborative culture and introducing enhanced procurement practices.
- Recognised internally and externally for procurement operational expertise, bringing innovation and best practice to solve business challenges and support Group Procurement success.
- Any other ad‑hoc duties and responsibilities as required.
- Experience in the insurance/re‑insurance market sector.
- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and manage a small team, driving performance and fostering a positive, collaborative work environment.
- Demonstrable capability to advance the maturity of the Procurement function, including successful deployment of contract, supplier management, and onboarding tools.
