Thedepartment
The Fox Williams Business Development & Marketing team are creative, innovative and focused on providing best in class BD&M provision to the firm. The team has evolved its provision in recent years and was recently shortlisted for the Business Services Support Team of the Year at the British Legal Awards.
The team comprises the Business Development and Sales Director supported by the Head of Business Development & Marketing, Senior Marketing and Communications Manager, Communications Executive, Relationship Data Analyst, this role (SBBDE), Marketing & Events Executive and Business Development & Marketing Administrator.
The opportunityThis is an exciting opportunity to join a high-achieving, collaborative eight-person Business Development and Marketing team. Reporting to the Head of Business Development & Marketing, you will take ownership of the firm’s bids and pitch process, managing end-to-end delivery of proposals, coordinating inputs from partners and teams, and ensuring submissions are consistently high-quality, compelling and on brand. Alongside bids, you will also provide proactive BD support across the firm’s practice areas, departments and sectors, using data to inform decision making.
This role gives an opportunity to deliver further positive change into the BD&M team through embedding best practice, owning an area of business development while having exposure to a wide range of BD projects.
Responsibilities Bids, pitches & proposals (core focus)- Own and continually improve the firm’s bids and pitch process, acting as the central point of coordination and quality control across all submissions.
- Produce and refine high-quality, persuasive proposals tailored to clients and opportunities, working closely with partners and business services teams.
- Ensure bids are consistently delivered to deadline, including fast-turnaround submissions. Submissions will be fully compliant with client instructions and panel criteria.
- Build and maintain a strong, accessible bank of credentials, case studies and bid materials to support efficiency and quality.
- Use reporting, feedback and market insight to enhance bid performance, share learning and embed bid best practice across the firm.
- Support the development of the international referral module within CRM and train practice areas on its effective use.
- Provide insights to the International Committee through regular referral reporting, identifying trends and opportunities.
- Use CRM and reporting insights to inform targeting, pipeline decisions and bid strategy. Help partners track and follow up on business opportunities revealed through CRM reporting.
- Support client relationship management and development, particularly Key Account Management (KAM) initiatives.
- Contribute to client listening exercises, building on insights to improve service delivery and strengthen relationships.
- Work with Partner teams to develop pipelines. Support them to convert prospects into opportunities into clients.
