Role Overview
As a Business Manager within the Frontline Business Performance and Delivery Team, you will support the management, growth, and governance of Frontline Teams across Relationship Banking, Strategic Fund Solutions, and the Chief Commercial Office in the UK Innovation Bank. This is a dynamic position offering variety and the opportunity to work with stakeholders at all levels – across the Innovation Bank, offshore teams, and the HSBC Group.
You will be responsible for delivering key business activities including FTE and budget management, governance and risk oversight, strategic planning, and problem‑solving. Your ability to exercise discretion and adapt to shifting priorities will be essential to driving the Frontline Business agenda forward. The role is a mid‑level position suitable for someone looking to take the next step in their career.
- Business Reporting & Analysis – respond to ad hoc requests for presentation development, business analysis, and reporting; prepare and deliver key reports for business management, ExCo, Committees, and Board (e.g., Client & Market Update).
- Information Management – organise complex information in a clear, strategic, and accessible way; prepare materials for townhalls and internal communications.
- Headcount & Financial Management – own headcount reporting and tracking, ensuring accuracy and timely updates; collaborate with Finance to understand and communicate monthly financials.
- Governance & Risk – own business controls and contribute to the governance framework; support periodic audit, regulatory, and compliance activities; proactively resolve issues as they arise.
- Process Improvement – work with team members and the business to simplify, improve, and add value to existing processes; drive key initiatives to optimise business performance.
- Stakeholder Engagement – represent Frontline Teams in internal forums and serve as a delegate for the Head of Frontline Business Performance & Delivery as needed.
Skills and Qualifications
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office, including Excel (Pivot Tables) and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrable knowledge of the Innovation Economy (fintech, startups, emerging trends).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills (time management).
- Self‑motivation – tenacious, proactive, able to work independently, and take responsibility for outcomes.
- Resilience & Adaptability – comfortable managing multiple priorities, ambiguity, and challenging situations.
- Risk & Governance – track record of managing business risk and governance activity (preferred).
- Relevant Experience – prior experience in a business management role (preferred).
