The Role
International trade and collaboration play a vital role in driving economic growth by boosting exports, increasing productivity and driving much needed investment into the UK’s cities and regions. Connected Places Catapult works with governments, industry and innovation leaders around the world to open new markets, build international partnerships and showcase UK expertise globally.
Reporting to the Head of International Partnerships, you will play a key role in delivering the Digital Construction International Programme, a flagship UK government programme that brings together governments, infrastructure owners and industry partners worldwide to advance digital construction. By promoting the adoption of international best practice in information management and BIM, the programme supports improved infrastructure outcomes, knowledge exchange and international collaboration.
Drawing on your experience of international engagement and diplomacy, stakeholder management and complex programme delivery, you will build and manage relationships with UK embassies and high commissions, international governments and public sector organisations, multilateral institutions and industry leaders across a portfolio of countries. You will design and deliver international missions, workshops, and knowledge exchange activities that translate into meaningful partnerships, market opportunities and programme impact.
Knowledge and experience of the construction and infrastructure sectors would be advantageous.
The role will also involve support for the Global BIM Network, collaboration with multilateral organisations, and the coordination of senior inward and outward visits.
Success will depend on your ability to navigate diverse cultural, political and commercial environments while building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, and translating detailed programme deliverables into actionable outputs.
You will join Connected Places Catapult's International and Trade Directorate, a small and dedicated team that leads our work on exports, inward investment and international partnerships. This is a matrix role, so you will also report into the Digital Construction International Programme lead.
This role offers a unique opportunity to operate on the international stage, shaping partnerships that support innovation, economic growth and the global adoption of UK standards and expertise. International travel and regular engagement across time zones will be required, as will attending some evening events in London with or on rotation with other colleagues.
Key ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for building trusted client and stakeholder relationships, identifying new opportunities and supporting the delivery of high‑quality international programmes. This will include shaping work streams, developing bids and proposals, managing stakeholder information through the CRM system, and contributing specialist expertise that strengthens Connected Places Catapult’s credibility and impact. This includes:
- Deliver against agreed revenue, utilisation and programme targets, while maintaining a strong focus on quality, value for money and client confidence.
- Identify and develop new opportunities, including follow‑on work, second phase wins and contributions to bids, proposals and account development.
- Scope, plan and lead work streams, including budgets, deliverables, delivery models and coordination…
