This is the job

Operational resilience has never been more important. As regulatory expectations continue to evolve, The AA is investing in strengthening its ability to anticipate, withstand and recover from disruption while continuing to deliver the services our customers rely upon.

As our Head of Operational Resilience, you'll lead the evolution of our enterprise Operational Resilience framework, ensuring our Important Business Services remain resilient, well governed and aligned with regulatory expectations. This is a highly visible leadership opportunity for someone who combines deep operational resilience expertise with strong business continuity capability, commercial judgement and the confidence to engage Executive Committees and Boards. You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring resilience is embedded into how we design, operate and transform our business.

What will I be doing?

  • Lead and continuously evolve The AA's Operational Resilience framework, ensuring it remains aligned to regulatory expectations and industry best practice.
  • Drive Business Continuity planning, scenario testing and resilience exercises across critical business services, identifying vulnerabilities and overseeing remediation activity.
  • Partner with Technology, Information Security, Risk and business leaders to strengthen technology resilience, disaster recovery and operational resilience capabilities.
  • Provide expert advice and constructive challenge to senior leaders, Executive Committees and Board governance forums through clear reporting, insight and recommendations.
  • Ensure resilience considerations are embedded into change programmes, supplier governance and strategic business decision making.
  • Lead, develop and inspire a high performing Operational Resilience team while fostering resilience awareness across the wider organisation.
What do I need?

  • Significant experience leading Operational Resilience, Business Continuity or resilience risk within a large, regulated organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of Operational Resilience regulation, including Important Business Services, impact tolerances, service mapping, governance and scenario based testing.
  • Proven experience working closely with Technology and Information Security teams, with a strong understanding of technology resilience, disaster recovery and cyber resilience.
  • Experience engaging and influencing senior executives, Board or Executive Committees, with the ability to communicate complex resilience matters clearly and confidently.
  • Demonstrable success translating regulatory requirements into practical, business focused resilience strategies and action plans.
  • Professional qualifications such as CBCI, ISO 22301 or similar are advantageous, although equivalent experience will also be considered.
