About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Housing Officer to manage a designated housing patch within the Clapham Park area. This is a varied frontline role where you will act as the key local representative for residents across a range of tenures, including rented, shared ownership and leasehold homes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary local point of contact for residents within your patch.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with residents, local authorities, councillors, MPs and community partners.
  • Respond to customer enquiries and complaints, seeking early and effective resolutions wherever possible.
  • Support and engage residents on service delivery matters, planned works, service charges and local initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external agencies to support vulnerable residents and those at risk.
  • Participate in emergency response activities when required.
  • Lead on estate inspections, ensuring communal areas are maintained to a high standard.
  • Monitor contractor performance for services such as cleaning and grounds maintenance.
  • Identify and report communal repairs, ensuring issues are addressed promptly.
  • Carry out non-technical health and safety inspections and follow up on remedial actions.
  • Manage local environmental issues and work with residents and stakeholders to improve estates.
  • Support tenant and resident associations and attend local meetings and community events.
  • Investigate and help resolve parking-related issues.
  • Manage a range of tenancy and leasehold matters including:
  • Respond to service charge queries using local knowledge of service delivery and associated costs.
  • Undertake resident visits as required.
  • Investigate and manage anti-social behaviour (ASB) cases within the patch.
Essential Experience & Knowledge
  • Previous experience in a Housing Officer, Housing Management or similar housing services role.
  • Experience of managing leasehold and shared ownership tenures.
  • Knowledge of housing management practices and relevant housing legislation.
  • Understanding of anti-social behaviour legislation and tenancy enforcement processes.
  • Experience of delivering excellent customer-focused services.
  • Strong stakeholder management and partnership-working skills.
  • Experience of handling complex tenancy cases and customer enquiries.
  • Ability to work independently across a geographically dispersed patch.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong report writing and case management abilities.
  • Good planning, organisation and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to analyse financial and operational information.
