About the role
We're a growing residential block management company looking for a Fire Safety Inspector to join our compliance team. You'll take ownership of fire safety across a diverse portfolio of managed properties, making sure every building meets its statutory obligations under the Fire Safety Order 2005 and the Building Safety Act 2022 – and our own high standards.
This is a hands-on, field-based role with real impact. Your work directly protects residents and shapes how we operate as a business.
We're open to experienced inspectors and to people moving into a dedicated fire safety role from a related background, as long as you have a solid grounding in fire safety principles and a genuine drive to develop.
What you'll be doing
- Carrying out scheduled fire safety inspections across your portfolio
- Assessing compliance against the FSO 2005, BS 5839, BS 5266, BS 9999 and internal policies
- Inspecting fire detection and alarm systems, emergency lighting, fire doors, compartmentation, firefighting equipment, means of escape and AOV/smoke control systems
- Identifying hazards and producing clear action plans and recommendations
- Completing accurate, audit-ready inspection reports
- Chasing site managers and contractors to get outstanding actions resolved
- Reviewing fire risk assessments and verifying actions have been implemented
- Supporting fire incident investigations where needed
- Liaising with contractors, fire authorities and internal teams
- Advising site teams on compliance and best practice
- Supporting mobilisation of new property acquisitions and internal audits
- Providing training and guidance to property staff
What we're looking for
- Proven experience carrying out fire safety inspections in residential or commercial settings
- Clear, accurate report writing
- Confident communicating with contractors, site teams and fire authorities
- Organised and self-managing with scheduling and follow-up
Not fully qualified yet?
We'll also consider you if:
- You're coming from a related role – facilities management, building management, construction or the fire service – and want to move into a specialist fire safety position
- You can show a genuine interest in fire safety through self-study, coursework or hands‑on experience
- You're motivated to work towards formal qualifications with our support
