Role OverviewThis Programme Lead role provides cross-cutting strategic support to E3G’s Clean Economy petal, strengthening its core strategy, tracking and strategic foresight capabilities, while taking leadership of the petal’s Trade & Investment workstream and supporting the Associate Director in shaping the petal’s programme of work and fundraising.
You will take leadership of the Trade & Investment workstream within Clean Economy, driving delivery of E3G’s strategy in this space and building E3G’s political access, analytical capability and thought leadership on trade and investment issues.
You will also work with CPECC’s pipeline strategy arm to build E3G’s horizon scanning capabilities, including leveraging foresight tools and scenario analysis to generate strategic insights on the future of the clean economy. You will work across arenas and thematic areas to evaluate geopolitical and geo-economic developments, monitor emerging trends and develop E3G’s approach to navigating uncertainty. You will establish E3G as a thought leader on the long-term drivers influencing the political economy of climate change.
Key Responsibilities- Provide overall leadership, management, and structure to cross-cutting projects within the Clean Economy petal, ensuring strategic coherence, risk management, and delivery against objectives and KPIs.
- Lead the delivery of E3G’s Trade & Investment Strategy, driving progress against its outcomes: building resilient global supply chains for the clean transition, embedding clean trade in geopolitical and geoeconomic strategies, and aligning investment governance with global climate goals.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a multi-location team, fostering a collaborative culture and ensuring high performance through regular reviews, capacity-building, and professional growth plans.
- Develop expertise and profile and contribute thought leadership inside and outside E3G on clean economy and trade, to ensure E3G remains at the cutting edge of climate action.
- Build E3G’s political access and profile on clean economy, trade and investment issues among key decision-makers in priority geographies, and strengthen the evidence base and analytical capabilities underpinning E3G’s clean economy work.
- Represent the organisation externally with partners, funders and with media and in public forums as appropriate.
- Represent E3G at international forums and conferences and in bilateral meetings with senior-level policymakers and thought leaders. Some travel will be required.
- Support the Associate Director for Clean Economy in shaping a forward-looking programme of work for the petal, exploring opportunities for expanding the scope of work into frontier areas including clean tech supply chains and geo-economics.
