09The Role: The Price Reporter Agriculture Fertilizers & Minerals is a journalist and pricing specialist within Platts part of S&P Global Energy. The role focuses on covering spot prices news and analysis across the global fertilizers and minerals markets in full accordance with Platts editorial standards and price assessment methodologies. This role involves daily engagement with physical commodity markets close interaction with industry participants and contributing to the ongoing development maintenance and governance of Platts price assessments and benchmarks.
Responsibilities & Impact
Establish and maintain market coverage across global fertilizers and minerals markets in line with Platts methodology governance and compliance standards.
Report on daily and weekly physical trading activity collecting validating and analysing market information from a wide range of sources.
Assess and publish prices in accordance with Platts transparent repeatable and auditable methodologies.
Write market commentaries explaining price movements market structure and underlying drivers.
Produce news stories and contribute to multimedia coverage including webinars and presentations.
Represent Platts and S&P Global Energy at industry events conferences and external engagements.
Engage with market participants and build manage and maintain a robust database of industry contacts.
Support the refinement of methodologies and the development of new price assessments and benchmarks as part of Platts growth strategy in fertilizers and minerals.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree or higher.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
Strong problem-solving skills and a self-starter mindset.
Ability to interact professionally with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Cultural awareness and sensitivity.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in price reporting market analysis commodities journalism or a closely related field with evidence of progression beyond entry-level responsibilities.
A strong understanding of price assessment processes market reporting standards and the importance of accuracy transparency and editorial integrity.
Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy including independently managing market coverage validating complex information and making sound editorial or assessment judgments with limited supervision.
Advanced numeracy and analytical skills including a strong ability to interpret market data identify trends and work confidently with Excel and other data tools.
Knowledge of fertilizers minerals or related commodities markets is highly desirable although candidates with strong transferable commodities experience will also be considered.
Strong interest in global commodity markets trade flows pricing dynamics and economic fundamentals.
Proven ability to build trusted relationships with market participants and maintain a credible professional network.
Fluency in additional international languages including Spanish French Arabic Turkish is an advantage.
