This is an exciting opportunity to join our Climate Adaptation team, as part of TfL’s wider SHE Environment & Sustainability team. Our team shapes and sets TfL’s strategic direction regarding climate risk management and adapting the business to climate (change) impacts. It acts as a source of advice and guidance for the organisation - playing a pivotal role in adapting TfL and wider London to climate change.

We work with teams across TfL and the wider London transport sector to develop, implement and embed strategy and best practice on climate risk management and adaptation. We are recognised as proactive leaders in climate change adaptation across both the transport and wider infrastructure sectors and focus heavily on internal and external collaboration and stakeholder engagement to achieve organisational objectives.

The role will include work to track and monitor progress of TfL’s Climate Adaptation Plan actions and organisational targets, provide subject matter expertise, help to upskill the business, and hold the business to account in delivering our objectives. The successful applicant will further assist with projects such as conducting TfL’s physical climate risk assessment, external reporting such as ARP and ISSB-aligned Sustainability Reporting, work on climate interdependencies and cascading impacts analysis, assessing TfL’s tidal flood defence assets and supporting the implementation of climate adaptation measures across TfL.

The role further includes data analysis and data improvement activities for TfL’s evidence base and data-driven decision‑making around climate risk and adaptation (e.g., climate risk assessments, incident reporting, using GIS for mapping and spatial analysis), and ensuring alignment with latest climate research. This role is also a contributor for promoting diversity and inclusion across the function.
