Exciting opportunity | Rapidly expanding e-commerce marketplace We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Marketplace Compliance Manager to join a rapidly expanding e-commerce marketplace team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing digital business and play a key role in building a safe, trusted and compliant marketplace as the operation continues to scale. This is a senior compliance role with responsibility for the end-to-end marketplace compliance framework, covering seller vetting, product and listing compliance, consumer protection, regulatory requirements, risk management and enforcement.

You will work closely with Marketplace leadership and cross-functional teams including Legal, Finance, Data Protection, Business Development, Seller Experience and Operations, providing practical advice that protects customers and the business while enabling sustainable commercial growth.

Role Overview As Marketplace Compliance Manager, you will own and continuously develop the compliance framework that governs who can sell, what can be sold and how products and sellers are presented to customers. You will identify emerging risks, ensure appropriate controls are in place and oversee a consistent, evidence-based approach to seller and product compliance. The role is both strategic and hands-on, combining regulatory knowledge with operational delivery.

You will be expected to translate complex requirements into clear, practical processes that sellers and internal teams can follow. As the marketplace continues to expand, you will play an important role in shaping compliance standards for new categories, sellers, products, services and marketplace features.

Key Responsibilities You will be responsible for:
Owning and maintaining the marketplace compliance framework, including policies, standards, controls and operating procedures. Establishing and embedding clear requirements covering seller onboarding, product listings, restricted products and seller conduct. Leading seller vetting and due diligence processes, including business verification, identity checks, financial standing, VAT requirements and relevant platform reporting obligations. Ensuring appropriate ongoing seller monitoring and re-verification after onboarding. Defining and enforcing standards for restricted and prohibited products, ensuring breaches are identified and addressed promptly.

Overseeing compliance requirements relating to consumer protection, product information, pricing claims, reviews and seller behaviour. Working with Finance and other specialist teams to support accurate and timely compliance with VAT and digital platform reporting obligations. Monitoring marketplace listings and seller activity to identify potential compliance issues, risks or patterns of non-compliance. Developing proactive monitoring and control measures that can operate effectively at marketplace scale.

Managing compliance issues through a clear and documented remediation and enforcement process, including warnings, corrective actions, suspensions and removals where appropriate. Ensuring enforcement decisions are proportionate, consistent, evidence-based and properly documented. Maintaining a comprehensive marketplace compliance risk register, including risks, controls, actions, owners and escalation points. Monitoring regulatory and legislative developments affecting e-commerce, consumer protection, digital markets, tax, data and online marketplaces.

Assessing regulatory changes and translating their impact into practical actions, policies and process improvements. Ensuring marketplace policies, seller terms, procedures, audit trails and decision logs remain accurate, current and audit-ready. Acting as a key Marketplace contact for Legal, Finance, Data Protection and other specialist functions. Supporting responses to external stakeholders, including Trading Standards, regulators and other relevant enforcement bodies where required.

Advising the Marketplace leadership team on compliance implications associated with new sellers, product categories, services, advertising and marketplace features. Working with Business Development and Seller Experience teams to ensure compliance expectations are clearly communicated to new and existing sellers.
