Better Decisions Begin with You
At Aon, we shape decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world. As an organisation, we are united through trust as one inclusive, diverse team, and we are passionate about helping our colleagues and clients succeed.
Catastrophe Modelling:
Catastrophe Modelling plays an important role within Aon Reinsurance, helping insurers and reinsurers understand and manage the financial impact of natural and human-made risks. Using commercial catastrophe models and Aon’s own analytical tools, our teams assess perils including earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, wildfires and cyber. These insights support clients in making informed decisions about risk, capital and reinsurance.
What the role looks like:
As a graduate, you will join a collaborative team of analysts with backgrounds across science, economics, engineering, actuarial science, catastrophe modelling and IT security. You will learn to prepare and analyse data, use Aon’s risk quantification tools and digital technologies, interpret model outputs and communicate clear insights to colleagues and clients.
The role will encourage you to ask thoughtful questions, challenge assumptions and apply sound judgement, including when using AI-enabled tools and reviewing machine-generated outputs.
You may also gain experience across specialist areas including Catastrophe Management, Cyber, model development and model evaluation, where models, methodologies and outputs are tested and peer reviewed.
What your day could look like:
- Preparing, interpreting and quality-checking client exposure, insurance and claims data, investigating anomalies and ensuring analysis is accurate and traceable.
- Running catastrophe models to quantify the likelihood and potential impact of natural, cyber and other human-made events.
- Analysing model outputs, identifying patterns and testing scenarios to translate complex results into clear, client-focused insights.
- Testing how data quality, assumptions, portfolio changes and input variables affect results, and deciding when further expert review is needed.
- Evaluating and validating vendor, internally developed and AI-supported outputs, considering methodologies, strengths, limitations and relevance to the client’s needs.
- Monitoring major catastrophe events and providing timely information to help assess their potential impact and support sound decisions.
- Researching emerging risks, climate change and developments in natural and cyber catastrophe risk, anticipating how these may affect clients.
- Developing and maintaining datasets, analytical tools, models and client solutions, with opportunities over time to build capability in SQL, Python, data pipelines and advanced analytics.
- Using tools such as Copilot and analytics platforms thoughtfully, learning to refine prompts, tailor outputs and check that results are reliable and appropriate.
- Working inclusively with colleagues, academic institutions and industry partners, valuing different perspectives to test ideas and develop innovative approaches.
- Coordinating analytical tasks, seeking and applying feedback, and preparing presentations that communicate priorities and findings to technical and non-technical collaborators.
Your Development
As an Aon Graduate, you will be enrolled onto our Launch Programme when you join. Alongside your broader development, you will progressively build the technical and professional capabilities needed for the role. This may include data analysis and…
