Special Projects Surveyor – Major Works (Fire Safety & Remediation)
Location:
London (hybrid working)
Salary:
Circa £68,000 per annum + performance-related bonus/ Day Rate Negotiable (For Interim)

Permanent or Interim, full-time
An established housing and property organisation is seeking an experienced Special Projects Surveyor to lead on complex major works and latent defect remediation projects, with a strong focus on cladding, fire safety, and building regulation compliance.
This is a senior technical role suited to a Building Surveyor or Project Surveyor with proven experience delivering high-value remedial works programmes in occupied residential buildings.
The Role
You will take responsibility for managing multiple remediation and major works projects from inception through to completion, ensuring delivery against time, cost, quality, and safety objectives. Working closely with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and residents, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance, value for money, and high levels of customer satisfaction.
The role includes regular stakeholder engagement, including occasional evening meetings with residents, which form a mandatory part of the position.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage latent defect and major remedial works projects, particularly those relating to cladding and fire safety
* Act as project manager and contract administrator on individual buildings and work packages
* Procure and manage consultant and contractor appointments in line with internal governance and procurement policies
* Oversee technical solutions, ensuring compliance with current building regulations and fire safety standards
* Monitor project risks, budgets, programmes, and contractor performance
* Engage proactively with residents and stakeholders, managing communication and resolving complaints effectively
* Ensure health, safety, and statutory compliance across all projects
* Contribute to reporting, funding bids, and service improvement initiatives
* Provide technical advice internally and support wider team objectives
About You
* Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Building Surveying or a related discipline
* Strong experience delivering major works, remediation, or fire safety projects within residential or social housing environments
* Sound knowledge of building regulations, particularly fire safety and compliance
* Proven ability to manage multiple projects and multidisciplinary consultant teams
* Confident communicator with experience engaging residents and managing stakeholder expectations
* Strong contract management and procurement experience
* Highly organised, commercially aware, and quality-driven
