We are currently seeking an experienced Design Manager to join a leading main contractor delivering high-quality commercial projects across London. This is an excellent opportunity for a design professional who thrives in a fast-paced, delivery-focused environment and has a strong understanding of the full construction lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate the design process from pre-construction through to project completion

Lead design development on commercial schemes, ensuring compliance with programme, budget, and technical requirements

Act as the key point of contact between consultants, subcontractors, and internal project teams

Ensure all design information is fully coordinated, buildable, and aligned with contractual obligations

Manage design risk, design changes, and value engineering processes

Support tender and pre-construction activities where required

Essential Experience & Requirements

Proven experience working as a Design Manager for a main contractor

Essential:
Strong background delivering commercial construction projects

Solid understanding of construction methodologies, design coordination, and procurement

Experience managing consultant teams and technical design packages

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Ability to work effectively on multiple work streams in a live project environment

Desirable

Experience working on projects within central London

Knowledge of design management software and document control systems

Relevant construction or design qualification
