Estimator – London (Pre-Construction)

Our client, an established main contractor delivering major residential, commercial, education and mixed‑use developments across the UK, is seeking a Mid–Senior Estimator to join their London pre‑construction team. The business has an expanding UK pipeline including high‑profile developments such as large‑scale mixed‑use schemes and significant residential projects.

You will play a key role in preparing competitive tenders and cost plans for projects typically ranging from £20m–£100m+, working closely with internal teams and supply chain partners to ensure accurate, commercially robust submissions.

• Review tender documentation and ensure completeness of information received.
• Prepare take‑offs, quantities and cost plans using CostX (training provided if needed).
• Break down tender packages and identify suitable subcontractors and suppliers.
• Issue enquiries, evaluate returns and complete detailed subcontract comparisons.
• Identify and communicate risks, opportunities and assumptions.
• Support development of commercial submissions, value‑engineering and clarifications.
• Attend tender launch, mid‑bid and settlement meetings; support mobilisation as required.

• Estimating experience within a main contractor environment (UK or Irish market).
• Strong understanding of construction methods, procurement and tendering processes.
• Able to interpret drawings, specs and contractual information.
• Proficiency in take‑offs, measurement and bill production (CostX or similar).
• Excellent commercial awareness, numeracy and attention to detail.
• Strong organisation, prioritisation and communication skills.
