The company has developed a reputation of delivering a high-quality service to clients, carrying out both new build and refurbishment projects in multiple sectors including residential, commercial, retail, and educational projects
About the role:Our client are seeking an experienced, site-based Health & Safety Advisor to support a high profile residential construction project. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of health and safety are maintained throughout all phases of the build. This role is suited to a proactive safety professional with strong principal contractor experience across commercial and residential construction environments.
Location:Initially based from London office with travel to Henley-on-Thames. Opportunity to relocate to a major London project when works commence. (Option for full-time Henley-on-Thames-based candidate.)
Key Responsibilities- Provide day-to-day health and safety support on active construction sites.
- Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with current health and safety legislation, company policies, and industry best practice.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Support site management teams in implementing safe systems of work.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, and produce detailed reports.
- Deliver toolbox talks, briefings, and safety training as required.
- Maintain accurate health and safety records and documentation.
- Liaise with subcontractors, site teams, and external stakeholders to promote a positive safety culture.
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Site Safety Officer or Health & Safety Advisor working for a Principal Contractor.
- Proven experience on commercial and residential construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of current UK health and safety legislation and best practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and reporting skills.
- Relevant health and safety qualifications (desirable).
- Experience working on large-scale or high-value projects.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple site priorities.
