Location: Greater London

An established London-based principal contractor is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team, delivering complex retrofit and refurbishment schemes across commercial, residential, heritage, education, and public sector projects ranging from £50k to £10m.

This Quantity Surveyor opportunity is ideal for someone looking to take full commercial ownership of projects within a modern construction business that values quality delivery, strong communication, and commercially driven project management. The company operates with a technology-enabled, programme-first approach and works with agile, senior-led teams.

The successful Quantity Surveyor will work closely with senior commercial leadership while managing the day-to-day commercial performance of allocated projects from pre-construction through to final account.

Responsibilities
  • Managing the commercial delivery of projects from contract award through to final account
  • Preparing interim valuations, cost/value reconciliations, and cash flow forecasts
  • Procuring and managing subcontractor packages, accounts, and final settlements
  • Maintaining and managing variation accounts, including negotiation with client-side Quantity Surveyors
  • Producing accurate cost reports and commercial forecasts
  • Identifying and reporting commercial risks early
  • Working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, and Pre-Construction teams to ensure successful project delivery
Requirements
  • Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor for a main contractor
  • Background in refurbishment and retrofit projects preferred
  • Strong understanding of JCT contracts, valuations, variations, and final accounts
  • Experience managing subcontractor procurement and commercial accounts
  • Organised, commercially aware, and proactive in communication
  • Ambitious Quantity Surveyor looking to progress toward Senior Quantity Surveyor level
