Civil Engineering Works Inspector
Salary: £30,000 – £33,500 + Car Allowance
Location: London / Milton Keynes – Hybrid Working
Construo Recruitment is working in partnership with a major infrastructure and waterways organisation to recruit a Civil Engineering Works Inspector on a permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands‑on construction or civil engineering experience to work across a variety of third‑party infrastructure projects adjacent to waterways and historic assets.
The successful candidate will play a key role in inspecting and monitoring works on site, ensuring projects are carried out safely, compliantly and in line with engineering and environmental standards. This is a hybrid role combining site inspections across London and the South East with remote working.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect and monitor third‑party works on or adjacent to waterways and infrastructure assets
- Ensure works comply with engineering standards, health & safety requirements and company procedures
- Identify and elevate safety, quality and compliance concerns on site
- Assess site conditions and use professional judgement to identify risks
- Liaise with contractors, engineers and stakeholders to resolve site issues
- Maintain accurate digital inspection records and health & safety documentation
- Coordinate simple works activities including issuing permits and access permissions
- Support delivery across multiple live projects and locations
- Represent the organisation professionally when interacting with contractors and the public
- Ensure safe working practices are followed when working near water and public environments
- Recent hands‑on experience within construction, civil engineering, repair or maintenance
- Experience inspecting works and identifying quality or compliance issues
- Strong understanding of construction methods and site safety
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and technical standards
- Experience working alongside contractors on live sites
- Comfortable using digital systems to maintain records and reports
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience working within complex or constrained environments
- Experience working near waterways or similar infrastructure environments
- Relevant technical or engineering qualifications
- Salary of £30,000 – £33,500
- £390 per month car allowance
