Inside IR35

The Building Safety Act has fundamentally changed how social landlords manage higher–risk buildings. Compliance is no longer about ticking boxes, it's about demonstrating robust governance, managing risk, and ensuring residents remain at the centre of every decision.

In partnership with a London–based council, we are looking for an experienced Interim Building Safety Manager to help strengthen their building safety function during a critical period of delivery. There are solid foundations already in place, but they need someone who can provide technical leadership, challenge existing processes where necessary, and ensure compliance programmes continue to move forward.

This is a hands–on role where you'll be expected to make decisions, build relationships, and provide confidence to senior leadership that building safety obligations are being met.

What You'll Actually Be Doing
  • Take ownership of the organisation's Building Safety programme across a portfolio of Higher–Risk Residential Buildings (HRRBs).
  • Oversee compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022, review building safety cases, support the management of the Golden Thread, and ensure statutory obligations are delivered effectively.
  • Collaborate with Compliance, Asset Management, Fire Safety, Repairs, and Capital Projects teams, as well as external consultants and contractors, to ensure accurate information, proper risk management, and continuous progress of remediation programmes.
  • Engage regularly with senior stakeholders, provide clear reporting, practical advice, and recommendations that support informed decision–making.
  • Go beyond oversight of compliance dashboards by actively challenging where necessary and driving improvements.
About You
  • Have experience leading Building Safety or Compliance programmes within social housing, local government, or a similarly regulated property environment.
  • Understand the practical application of the Building Safety Act 2022 and be confident managing Higher–Risk Residential Buildings, Building Safety Cases, the Golden Thread, and wider compliance obligations.
  • Communicate complex technical issues clearly to colleagues, senior leaders, and external stakeholders.
