Hill & Hill Recruitment are working with a well-established specialist contractor delivering high-quality builders works packages across commercial, residential, healthcare, education and public sector projects throughout London.

Due to continued growth and an expanding portfolio of secured work, our client is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, managing the commercial aspects of builders works packages from pre-construction through to final account.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of multiple projects across London, ensuring costs are controlled, contracts are administered effectively and projects are delivered profitably.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Managing the commercial delivery of builders works projects from award through to final account.
  • Preparing cost plans, valuations, variations and final accounts.
  • Procuring and managing subcontractor packages.
  • Reviewing contracts and ensuring contractual compliance.
  • Monitoring project costs, forecasts and cash flow.
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Negotiating variations and agreeing accounts with clients and subcontractors.
  • Preparing and submitting monthly applications for payment.
  • Working closely with project managers, site teams and clients to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Producing accurate commercial reports for senior management.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
  • Strong background in builders works, refurbishment or fit-out projects.
  • Good knowledge of standard forms of contract, including JCT.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Experience managing subcontractor procurement and commercial performance.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and organisational abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Relevant construction or commercial qualification preferred.
