An additional supplement will be applied if the candidate joins the dangerous structure Rota. With experience and progression through the BSR registration class, you can work your way up to 60,633.

Objective of role

You need to be a Class 2 Registered Building Inspector. You will play a key role in delivering a high-quality, robust and legally compliant Building Control Authority that helps protect the health, safety and welfare of people in and around buildings across Richmond and Wandsworth. You will assess building regulation applications, carry out site inspections and provide clear, proportionate professional advice, ensuring that development complies with the Building Act 1984, Building Regulations and associated legislation.

In this role, you will manage a varied caseload of projects, working across both boroughs as required, and contribute to a responsive and customer-focused service. You will work collaboratively with applicants, agents, contractors and internal stakeholders, while maintaining appropriate regulatory independence and acting in wider public interest.

You will also be responsible for identifying and addressing non-compliant work, supporting enforcement activity where necessary, and ensuring accurate records are maintained to support audit, legal processes and transparency.

As a registered Building Inspector, you will operate within your level of competence in accordance with the Building Safety Regulator requirements and Code of Conduct, maintaining your professional development and contributing to a service that is recognised for quality, integrity and continuous improvement.

You will be responsible for delivering a high-quality and legally compliant Building Control service, ensuring that building work across Richmond and Wandsworth complies with the Building Act 1984, the Building Regulations and associated legislation.
