Controller of Site Safety; COSS

The COSS plays a critical role in ensuring the safety of construction sites and railway projects. You will be responsible for supervising and coordinating safety measures to safeguard the well-being of our employees, contractors, and the public. This role involves collaborating closely with project managers, engineers, and safety teams to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

• Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments on construction sites.
• Develop and implement safety protocols and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all railway and construction safety regulations.
• Provide guidance and training to site personnel on safety practices.
• Conduct safety briefings and toolbox talks.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, providing detailed reports and recommendations.
• Collaborate with project managers to establish safe work methods and schedules.
• Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Review construction plans and identify potential safety hazards.
• Maintain records of safety inspections, incidents, and corrective actions.
• Stay up-to-date with industry safety standards and regulations.

• Proven experience as a COSS for atleast 1 year.
• A valid COSS certification.
• Knowledge of railway safety regulations and standards (e.g., Network Rail standards).
• Strong understanding of construction site safety protocols.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to conduct safety training and deliver safety briefings.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions in emergency situations.
• Familiarity with safety management software and tools.
