We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a highly regarded mechanical and electrical services provider. This company specialises in delivering M&E projects, capital investment schemes, and planned preventative maintenance programmes across both the public and private sectors.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to take full ownership of cost management and project financials, working closely with project managers to ensure commercial success and contractual compliance.

The Role What Youll Be Doing
  • Provide commercial support to project managers across multiple M&E contracts.
  • Prepare cost estimates, valuations, and financial reports throughout project life cycles.
  • Manage project budgets and forecasts
    , ensuring financial efficiency.
  • Monitor and assess contract variations
    , ensuring accurate pricing and cost control.
  • Negotiate and agree final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
  • Manage and value subcontractor applications for payment, ensuring fair pricing.
  • Issue payment notifications, certifications, and withholding notices where necessary.
  • Oversee contract documentation
    , ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.
  • Assist with tendering processes
    , preparing and reviewing bid documentation.
  • Use Microsoft Project and other tools to create and manage project schedules.
  • Conduct regular cost analysis and cashflow forecasting for projects.
  • Ensure all commercial activities comply with contractual and legal requirements.
What Were Looking For

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field (RICS accredited).
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Quantity Surveying (desirable).
  • Strong knowledge of M&E, heating, hot water, and gas-related services.
  • Familiarity with contractual frameworks and commercial regulations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Microsoft Project, and financial software such as Sage 50 & Sage 200.
Experience &

Skills:
  • Minimum five years of experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within the construction, M&E, or building services industry.
  • Strong financial and commercial management skills.
  • Ability to analyse complex data and translate financial insights into actionable strategies.
  • Excellent negotiation skills, with experience managing subcontractor agreements.
  • Confident working across multiple projects and meeting strict deadlines.
  • Practical knowledge of cost reporting and work-in-progress assessments.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and AutoCAD plans.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information to diverse stakeholders.
