Senior Quantity Surveyor

This is a genuinely strong opportunity to take a senior commercial position with a growing specialist building envelope contractor operating on some of the more technically demanding external works schemes across London. The business has built its reputation delivering complex recladding, external wall insulation, light steel framing, brickwork, roofing and curtain walling packages, and now needs a Senior QS to take commercial ownership across projects with values ranging from £5 million to £15 million.

Based in modern riverside offices in North Greenwich, the company employs around 30 staff and works predominantly inside the M25 alongside select schemes in the wider South East. Projects span both new build envelope work and remedial and recladding schemes, with a growing pipeline of secured work. FIRAS certification for passive fire protection and cavity barriers reflects the technical standards the business operates to.

This role sits at the heart of commercial delivery. Reporting to senior leadership, you will take full ownership of the commercial performance of your project portfolio, work closely with hands-on directors and mentor junior members of the commercial team. Senior Quantity Surveyor Salary & Benefits Salary: £70,000 to £85,000 (DOE) Company Car Hybrid Working Arrangement 28 Days Holiday Including Bank Holidays Additional 1 Day Holiday for Each Completed Year of Service (first 10 years) Pension Scheme Mileage or Travel Expenses for Site Visits Modern riverside office in North Greenwich Direct working relationship with senior leadership Senior Quantity Surveyor Job Overview Take full commercial ownership of a portfolio of external envelope and associated works packages, with project values from £5 million to £15 million Manage projects from contract award through to final account, ensuring robust cost control at every stage Lead on commercial strategy, contract negotiations and resolution of complex commercial and contractual issues Prepare, submit and agree interim valuations, variations, contra-charges and final accounts Manage all commercial reporting including CVRs, cost forecasting, change management and cash flow Identify, assess and mitigate commercial and contractual risks throughout the project lifecycle Oversee subcontract procurement, administration and payment processes Prepare and manage claims, contractual notices and correspondence Support value engineering, early cost planning and tender reviews where required Mentor and develop junior members of the commercial team Maintain strong relationships with clients, main contractors, consultants and the supply chain through regular site engagement Senior Quantity Surveyor Requirements Proven Senior QS experience within building envelope, cladding, facade or external works packages Strong track record delivering projects of £5 million plus, ideally with values up to £15 million Confident managing multiple projects concurrently from tender handover through to final account Sound working knowledge of standard forms of contract, particularly JCT Solid skills in measurement, valuations, variations, CVRs and cost reporting

Experience of subcontract procurement, administration and payment processes Strong commercial and financial management skills with genuine attention to detail Confident communicator and negotiator, comfortable dealing directly with clients, consultants and subcontractors Comfortable mentoring and developing junior team members Full UK driving licence with willingness to travel to sites primarily across London and the South East Ideally based within a commutable…
