Project Director Construction Consultancy

A specialist construction consultancy in London is seeking an accomplished Project Director to lead its retail project management team. The successful Project Director will oversee a portfolio of retail fit-out, refurbishment and development projects, working with recognised brands and property clients. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Project Director to take ownership of project delivery, client relationships and team performance.

The Project Director will manage and develop a team of project managers while ensuring commissions are delivered to the highest standards. Acting as a senior client contact, the Project Director will provide strategic direction, resolve complex delivery challenges and maintain oversight of cost, programme, risk and quality. This position would suit an established Project Director with extensive retail experience and a strong consultancy background.

You must have prior construction consultancy experience to be considered for this role.

The Project Director will lead the delivery of retail projects from initial briefing and feasibility through to construction, handover and close-out. Projects may include flagship stores, shopping centre units, retail roll‑out programmes, refurbishments and complex occupied‑site schemes.

Key responsibilities will include managing project teams, allocating resources, reviewing programmes and overseeing procurement and contract administration. The Project Director will chair senior client meetings, manage key risks and ensure projects achieve agreed commercial and operational targets.

The role will also involve mentoring junior colleagues, monitoring team performance, strengthening existing client relationships and identifying opportunities for repeat business. The successful candidate will work closely with the wider leadership team to support the continued growth of the consultancy.

The successful Project Director will have:

• Extensive project management experience within a construction consultancy
• A strong track record of delivering retail fit‑out, refurbishment or roll‑out projects
• Experience leading and developing multidisciplinary project teams
• A degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying or a related discipline
• MRICS, MAPM, MCIOB or another relevant professional qualification
• Excellent commercial, contractual and client‑facing skills
• The ability to manage multiple projects and senior stakeholder relationships

The Project Director will receive:
