Chartered Residential Building Surveyor
Foundation Surveyors Limited is an independent RICS-regulated surveying practice providing residential surveying and valuation services across London.
We are looking for an experienced Chartered Building Surveyor to join our growing practice on either a full-time or part-time permanent basis. The role would suit an established residential surveyor who is comfortable working independently and wants to concentrate on inspections, technical judgement and report preparation without being responsible for generating new business.
The role will primarily comprise RICS Level 2 and Level 3 Home Surveys, together with residential valuations. Applicants must be MRICS qualified and an active RICS Registered Valuer, with suitable experience of residential valuation work. Inspections will be predominantly across North and East London, although some wider London coverage may be required.
Responsibilities- Undertaking RICS Level 2 and Level 3 residential surveys.
- Preparing clear, detailed and accurate reports within agreed timescales.
- Undertaking residential valuations in accordance with RICS standards and company procedures.
- Identifying building defects and providing proportionate advice on repairs, risks and further investigations.
- Communicating professionally with clients following inspections.
- Maintaining accurate inspection records and photographic evidence.
- Complying with RICS professional standards, company procedures and quality-control requirements.
- Managing an agreed workload and meeting report deadlines.
- MRICS or FRICS qualification.
- Strong residential building-surveying and defect-diagnosis experience.
- Experience producing RICS Level 2 and Level 3 reports.
- Current RICS Registered Valuer status and recent residential valuation experience.
- Excellent written communication and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound professional judgement.
- Good organisation and time-management skills.
- Full UK driving licence and the ability to travel to inspections across London.
- A satisfactory professional and claims history.
Survey bookings, routine administration and general client coordination will be handled by the office, allowing the successful candidate to focus primarily on inspections and report production. However, the surveyor will remain responsible for the technical quality and timely completion of their own work.
The position can be structured on a full-time or part-time basis. We are open to discussing a working pattern that suits both the successful candidate and the needs of the practice.
Salary£55,000–£65,000 per annum on a full-time equivalent basis, depending on experience, qualifications and demonstrated ability to manage the expected workload. Part-time salaries will be calculated pro rata.
