Working with public sector clients, you’ll contribute to transport strategies, business cases and economic assessments that help shape future investment and improve transport provision. If you enjoy exploring complex challenges, analysing information and turning your findings into clear, compelling recommendations, this could be the role for you.

ABOUT

THE ROLE

You’ll work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting the development of transport strategies and business cases across a range of public sector projects. You’ll combine analytical thinking with strong report writing and client-facing skills, helping to turn technical evidence into meaningful advice that informs decision‑making.

You will:
  • Prepare high-quality reports, business cases and technical documents to support transport planning and strategy projects.

  • Contribute to transport strategies, public transport studies and economic assessments.

  • Analyse data and evidence to develop practical, innovative and evidence‑based recommendations.

  • Support the development and evaluation of transport options, considering their wider economic, social and environmental impacts.

  • Engage with clients and stakeholders, asking the right questions to understand their needs and communicate findings clearly.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across transport planning, engineering and related disciplines to deliver successful project outcomes.

YOUR IMPACT

Your work will help shape transport investment and policy, supporting better‑connected communities and more sustainable travel choices. By combining strong analytical skills with a strategic mindset, you’ll help clients understand complex challenges, assess their options and make informed decisions that deliver lasting benefits.

You’ll also have the opportunity to build your experience across a varied portfolio of public sector projects, developing your technical expertise and confidence in client‑facing consultancy.

ABOUT YOU

We’re looking for someone who is analytical, curious and confident communicating ideas. You’ll enjoy working with data and evidence, but you’ll also be able to look beyond the numbers, understand the bigger picture and explain what your findings mean for clients.

You’ll ideally have:
  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning, Geography, Economics, Mathematics, Physics or a related discipline.

  • An interest in transport strategy, public transport, business cases and transport economics.

  • Strong report‑writing skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively.

  • A logical, analytical approach and the ability to interpret data to support strategic decision‑making.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to engage with clients, ask questions and understand their priorities.
