Mode Search is supporting the brand with the search for a Senior Product Developer to play a key role in driving design integrity and overseeing the full product lifecycle, from initial concept through to production sign-off. Working closely with design and cross-functional teams, the role will support the development of a diverse, high-end product portfolio, including seasonal collections and specialised capsule ranges.
The role is based in London and operates within a studio and atelier environment. This is a full-time position with a hybrid working setup. The Senior Product Developer will report into the Collections Director and work in close partnership with Design, Merchandising, Sales, Production, and the in-house atelier team.
The role- Lead the product development process from initial research and concept through to production handover
- Conduct regular in-store and market research with a focus on finishing techniques, fabrics, and trims
- Maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, sharing seasonal technical direction and ensuring high standards across sampling and production
- Collaborate closely with Design to ensure key research, concepts, and seasonal details are carried consistently throughout the collection
- Manage garment costings throughout development, ensuring commercial viability and alignment with margin targets
- Lead pricing reviews in collaboration with Merchandising and Sales teams
- Oversee the seasonal sampling budget, identifying and flagging risks against key deadlines
- Set up and manage seasonal sample trackers, ensuring accuracy and clear cross-team communication
- Attend sketch handovers, proactively identifying potential development challenges and proposing solutions
- Book, prepare, and lead fit sessions from toile through to final sample approval
- Create, maintain, and update detailed technical packs to ensure clear communication with external suppliers
- Launch and manage all sampling and pattern stages with clearly defined deadlines and expectations
- Ensure bills of materials and costings remain accurate and up to date, producing end-of-season reporting
- Collaborate with print teams on bulk artwork files where required
- Partner with Production to identify efficiencies, align on fabric changes, and ensure smooth transition into bulk
- Lead product and technical handovers into Production
- Initiate and manage stitch, seam, and fuse testing to ensure specifications and quality standards are met
- Support and mentor junior team members, contributing to team development and capability building
- Maintain and update technical, construction, and finishing standards documentation
- Travel to factories as required to support development and production
- Oversee day-to-day atelier operations, including managing schedules, priorities, and freelance resourcing
- Coordinate atelier activity during peak periods, such as London Fashion Week, ensuring accuracy and execution against design expectations
- A minimum of five years’ experience in Product Development within a luxury fashion or high-end designer environment
- Strong technical knowledge of garment construction, pattern cutting, and luxury finishes
- Experience working within an atelier or studio-based development setting
- Deep understanding of garment fit, silhouette, and drape
- Proven experience developing runway or show pieces
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across multiple functions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality
- A clear understanding of the luxury customer and product expectations
