What does a Senior MCR Operator do at Hogarth?This role requires understanding all technological aspects of the production chain, from consultation, camera origination, to transfers and data integrity, with a focus on QC and delivery. The operator liaises between production and post teams to ensure processes and workflows are followed, delivering work efficiently to the highest standard.
Responsibilities- Ingest, QC & delivery of content for broadcast, cinema, social and digital platforms
- Liaise with production and post to manage upcoming workflows (rushes from shoots, edit preps, conforms, project collects)
- Assist Editors with tasks such as syncing footage/audio for offline edit
- Encode/Transcode files to specification
- Scope, waveform & audio monitoring
- QC of supplied edit and graphics projects to determine suitability for production
- Create standards conversions using Alchemist
- Overall responsibility for the technical quality of files created for distribution
- Manage the life cycle of assets from ingestion to archiving; help curate physical media/drive library on the production server

Reporting lines and key stakeholdersThe Senior MCR Operator supports the Head of MCR and MCR Supervisor in all operations within the MCR department across Creative Content and Adaption.
Requirements- Previous experience in an MCR capacity in a post-production facility and/or agency
- Strong knowledge of broadcast QC, delivery specifications and DAM/MAM solutions
- Excellent understanding and experience with compression, codecs, formats and deliverables
- Excellent knowledge of social platforms from creative best practice to latest formats and specs
- Working knowledge of Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop
- Working knowledge of Davinci Resolve for prepping assets for edit and grade
- Attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Understanding of camera codecs, rushes ingest and workflow
- On-set experience as a DIT is an advantage
- Ability to adapt to new methods and technologies, including AI and automation
- Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
- Positive problem-solving attitude and ability to work under tight deadlines
- Ability to support junior team members as required
- Willingness to work on a shift rotation and occasional out-of-hours/on-location support
