About the Role
As our Correspondent, The Insurer, you will:
- Cover breaking news across the insurance and reinsurance markets, from company announcements and earnings to legal disputes and the insurance implications of major global events.
- Develop a strong market-facing contacts network, building relationships that generate exclusive leads and original stories for our readership.
- Hunt and deliver exclusive news, working closely with colleagues to originate differentiated, high‑impact coverage.
- Use quantitative data to uncover and explain industry trends, translating complex datasets into clear, insightful stories for a specialist audience.
- Report from key industry events in the London market and internationally, producing timely news, analysis and colour.
- Produce interviews and features that dig beneath the surface to identify underlying trends and provide deeper market insight.
- Contribute to multi‑platform coverage, including writing, basic video reporting and on‑camera interviews to support digital storytelling.
You are a fit for the role of Correspondent, The Insurer, if:
- Experience covering financial services is preferred, with insurance or closely related sector knowledge an advantage.
- Comfort reporting on technical and complex issues, with the ability to explain them clearly and accurately.
- A strong hunger for news, with the drive to deliver fast, accurate and original journalism.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including confidence engaging with C‑suite executives and senior market figures.
- A demonstrable instinct to dig deeper, going beyond surface‑level developments to uncover insight and trend‑driven analysis.
- Data‑confident and curious, with an interest in using quantitative information to support and strengthen editorial storytelling.
- Video‑journalism capability, including confidence conducting filmed interviews, presenting on camera, and working with basic video recording and editing tools.
- Comfortable working across platforms, with a willingness to adapt stories for text, video and digital formats.
