Salary: £34,000 - £39,000 per annum (depending on experience) + £5.77/hour for shifts after 6 PM and weekends

Job Description

We're looking for an experienced and technically proficient Studio Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our studios. This role is ideal for someone who combines hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership skills and enjoys managing people, processes, and client experiences in a fast-paced production environment.

As Studio Manager, you'll oversee the smooth running of our recording studios, leading a team of Studio Assistants and Engineers while ensuring every client receives an exceptional experience. You'll be responsible for maintaining high technical standards, managing studio operations, supporting complex productions, and collaborating closely with Production, Client Services, and other internal teams to continually improve workflows and studio performance.

Requirements
  • Proven experience running podcast and/or interview recording setups within a professional, client-facing production environment
  • Experience working directly with clients, production companies, and creative teams to deliver a high-quality studio experience
  • Previous experience managing, mentoring, and developing a small studio team of varied abilities, including supporting Studio Assistants and Engineers through training, feedback, and day-to-day guidance
  • Experience handling client enquiries, resolving issues, and managing complaints professionally while maintaining strong client relationships
  • Strong understanding of studio operations, including equipment preparation, session management, troubleshooting, and maintaining efficient workflows
  • Strong administrative skills, including managing email communications, maintaining spreadsheets, tracking projects, and supporting efficient studio operations
  • Previous experience using Click Up or similar project management tools to track workflows, manage tasks, and support efficient team operations
  • Good working knowledge of Sony camera systems, particularly Sony FX3 and FX6 cameras
  • Good working knowledge of professional digital mixing consoles and audio workflows
  • Good working knowledge of Godox lighting systems or equivalent professional lighting equipment
  • Solid working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment
  • Physically capable of independently handling light lifting, equipment setup, studio preparation, and general studio maintenance
Bonus Experience
  • Understanding of advanced camera and lighting techniques, including Cine EI, Log workflows, and professional picture profiles
  • Understanding of advanced audio techniques, including EQ, compression, dynamics processing, and broadcast-quality audio workflows
  • Experience using Riverside or similar platforms for remote podcast recordings
  • Experience using vMix or other live streaming and live production platforms
  • Experience working with additional studio and production equipment, including HDMI switchers, talkback amplifiers, teleprompters, and other broadcast or AV systems
  • Experience improving studio workflows, technical processes, and operational standards
  • Experience collaborating with multiple departments to support wider production and business objectives
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the studio, ensuring all recording spaces, equipment, and workflows are maintained to a high professional standard
  • Lead, manage, and support a team of Studio Assistants and Engineers, providing training, guidance, feedback, and ongoing development
  • Manage studio schedules, staffing, and resource allocation to ensure smooth and efficient delivery of client sessions
  • Ensure all podcast, interview, and video production sessions are prepared, supported, and delivered to a consistently high technical and creative standard
  • Act as the senior technical point of contact for studio operations, troubleshooting complex audio, video, lighting, and equipment issues
