About us

Racecourse Media Group is the umbrella organisation for 35 racecourses which hold an interest in Racing TV (Sky, Virgin, Freeview and Youview), GBI Racing (international betting shop/digital service) and Racecourse Data Company (licensor of Pre-Race Data). In addition, content from 37 racecourses is distributed by Sports Information Services (SIS) to Licensed Betting Offices (LBOs) in the UK and Ireland.

Job Purpose

To lead the editorial vision, creative direction of Racing TV’s live broadcast output across all platforms. Working in collaboration with Broadcast Operations, the role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, engaging, and Ofcom compliant coverage of horse racing that serves both core fans and wider sports audiences, while driving innovation, consistency, and cross-platform growth.

Job Accountabilities
  • Lead the editorial vision of all live channel output, including pre-race build-up, live racing, and post-race analysis.
  • Define and maintain a distinctive editorial voice across all broadcasts.
  • Set and approve running orders, editorial priorities, and narrative focus for each race day.
  • Ensure production teams deliver high-quality output under tight deadlines.
  • Oversee both studio and outside broadcast (OB) production.
  • Drive an audience-first approach, balancing depth for racing fans with broader accessibility.
  • Champion innovation through use of data, graphics, and emerging technologies.
  • Lead and direct on‑air talent to ensure consistent, authoritative presentation.
Production Management
  • Partner with the Director of Broadcast Operations to ensure technically flawless delivery.
  • Oversee complex racing schedules across the UK and Ireland.
  • Lead pre‑production planning for major festivals and high‑profile events.
  • Allocate resources effectively across competing priorities.
Editorial & Compliance
  • Ensure full compliance with the Ofcom Broadcasting Code and UK regulations.
  • Protect editorial integrity, particularly around betting, race incidents, and animal welfare.
  • Maintain accuracy of race data, results, and on‑screen information.
  • Establish and enforce clear editorial guidelines across all teams.
Digital & Cross‑Platform Content
  • Collaborate with digital, social, and product teams to maximise content reach.
  • Deliver a cohesive cross‑platform content strategy.
  • Embed a digital‑first mindset across production teams.
  • Oversee supplementary content such as highlights, analysis, and digital‑first formats.
  • Ensure consistency of tone and brand across all channels.
  • Provide clear, visible leadership across staff, freelancers, and crews.
  • Develop producers and on‑air talent through coaching and mentoring.
  • Lead performance reviews and development planning.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
  • Build strong relationships with racecourses, rights holders, and industry stakeholders.
Measures for the role
  • Strategically aligned editorial strategy with the RTV platforms (Digital and Social)
  • Audience first approach using qualitative data to inform decision making.
  • Audience growth and engagement across broadcast and digital platforms
  • Quality and consistency of live broadcast output
  • Compliance with regulatory standards (zero breaches)
  • Delivery of major events and race days to schedule and standard

Any other relevant information
  • A demonstratable knowledge of horse racing and the betting industry is desirable.
  • Flexibility to travel and work outside standard hours is essential.
