Overview

Moonbug Entertainment is seeking a Story Development & Editorial Manager (Licensed IP). The role is based in London and reports onsite at the London office. Moonbug creates award-winning content, including brands such as CoComelon and Blippi, with shows available on multiple platforms and products extending beyond the screen.

The Role

We are looking for a creative leader who challenges conventions, experiments with new formats, and develops bold ideas that expand Moonbug franchises beyond the expected. You will serve as the core consultative and editorial bridge across the business, ensuring every book, game script, podcast, product description, and character bible speaks with a unified, authentic voice across all IPs.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the central editorial powerhouse, driving storytelling excellence across six key business pillars.
  • Publish: oversee global fiction, non-fiction, and comic/graphic novel narrative development; originate stories, write manuscripts, ensure lore accuracy, and approve final print text.
  • Audio (Books & Podcasts): shape the audio-first narrative landscape; provide editorial direction on podcast scripting, audio drama narratives, and audiobook development and adaptation.
  • Books: collaborate with licensees to guide audiobook development; originate audiobook stories aligned with in-house print stories.
  • Podcasts: influence storytelling and narrative in the Moonbug podcast catalogue with the Audio team.
  • Wider Consumer Products: partner with toy, apparel, and lifestyle teams to weave narrative into physical products where relevant.
  • Brand (Character Bibles): ensure consistency across Character Bibles and all narrative content; guide the creative team to develop comprehensive versions for internal and external use.
  • Studio & Production: work cross-functionally with Studio & Production to share narrative content for Publishing and Studio use.
  • Gaming: collaborate on world-building, dialogue trees, game lore, and in-game text.
  • Global Franchise Strategy: scale stories across categories to maintain a unified canonical universe while honoring diverse media formats; review and approve narrative copy from external partners to protect brand integrity at scale.
  • Champion bold storytelling ideas and identify opportunities to expand franchises into new formats, platforms, and experiences.
  • Act as a creative catalyst, proposing innovative concepts to strengthen brands and unlock opportunities across publishing, products, gaming, audio, and beyond.
  • Think beyond traditional publishing models to pioneer next-generation franchise storytelling and audience engagement.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Licensed IP Mastery:
Proven track record of managing, writing, or editing intellectual property.
