JOIN THE TEAM

Join the BBC Dars team to help deliver high-quality educational content and impartial global journalism to young audiences aged 11–16 who face barriers to learning. BBC Dars is an award-winning World Service programme providing engaging lessons in subjects including maths, English, science and life skills across TV, audio, digital and social platforms. Originally launched in Dari and Pashto to support learners affected by restrictions on education, the programme is now expanding its reach into Arabic.

YOUR

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
  • Research, develop and produce accurate, impartial and engaging news and current affairs content for young audiences across TV, audio, digital and social platforms.
  • Generate original story ideas and apply strong editorial judgement to create content that is audience-focused and relevant.
  • Manage all stages of production, including pre-production, studio-based and location filming, live broadcasts, and post-production editing.
  • Adapt storytelling approaches and content treatments to suit different platforms and audience needs while maintaining high editorial standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the BBC to share content, avoid duplication and ensure best practice is consistently applied.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
  • Strong understanding of how to create compelling multi-platform content for young audiences, with experience in television, audio and digital storytelling.
  • Proven ability to write accurate, engaging scripts and identify stories that translate effectively across video, audio and digital formats.
  • Knowledge of TV studio production and digital video creation, including an understanding of platform-specific content requirements.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work to briefs, meet tight deadlines, source content and build effective working relationships.
  • Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto and English, alongside sound editorial judgement; experience editing video (FCPX, QEdit) and audio is desirable.
