About The Role
A portfolio is required to be submitted as part of your application
You are a creative designer with a technologist streak. You're responsible for the quality of interaction design, delightful moments, and UI quality on the projects you work on. You bring storytelling into everything you make, whether that's a brand's online presence or a single interaction.
AI is part of your workflow. You use LLMs to work at speed, from ideation through to production, and you're comfortable coding with AI to bring your own concepts to life. You think beyond working faster, and consider how AI can genuinely improve the experiences we build for clients. You bring that thinking into the design studio.
You might mentor junior or mid-weight creative team members, or concentrate and own a particular competency within the discipline, such as motion, design systems, or AI-driven workflows.
You provide better quality, more ambitious user experiences, as well as lower development costs, as you create usable code as part of the design process.
You produce work that's built to compete, and to win.
Responsibilities- Expand and evolve client brands into rich online experiences, working within and extending design systems
- Lead concept development for digital products and services, from concept through to polished execution, bringing storytelling into every project
- Use AI tools to accelerate ideation, prototyping, and production, and code with AI assistance to build experiences directly
- Identify where AI can genuinely improve client experiences, not just how we produce them, and bring that thinking back into the studio
- Partner with clients, UX, research, and development teams to ensure creative vision survives real-world constraints, on time and on budget
- Ensure designs are accessible and meet usability and user-centred design standards
- Identify and address delivery risks before they become issues
- Mentor junior and mid-weight team members, sharing practice knowledge across the studio
- Contribute to communities of practice and studio growth initiatives
- Produce work that competes for, and wins, industry recognition
Resource complexity and nature of work teams:
- This role works across multiple concurrent projects, balancing creative craft with hands-on build using AI-assisted coding, and operates with a high degree of autonomy, shaping ambiguous briefs into concepts, design systems, and working prototypes.
- Complexity sits in the fusion of disciplines: creative direction, interaction design, and front-end build, moving fluidly between them as needed.
- Day-to-day collaboration spans UX, research, and development teams, plus clients directly on top-tier accounts, and the role may include ownership of a specific competency, such as motion, systems, or AI workflows. Influence extends beyond individual projects, shaping how the wider team adopts AI, and decisions carry real weight on client relationships and account growth.
- This role solves problems that sit at the intersection of creative vision and technical feasibility, often with no clear precedent to follow.
- Briefs can be loosely defined, requiring the individual to interpret client needs, weigh creative ambition against delivery constraints, and decide how AI tools can genuinely improve an experience rather than just speed up its production.
- Solutions must hold up across brand, interaction design, and code, so trade-offs in one area need to be understood in terms of their impact on the others.
- Judgement is exercised independently on most projects, with escalation reserved for problems that affect client relationships, account growth, or studio-wide ways of working.
- Influencing clients and internal teams to adopt AI-augmented ways of working, based on creative recommendations and a clear view of where AI genuinely improves the experience.
- Supports smooth transitions by clearly communicating the rationale behind design and technical decisions, helping stakeholders understand the benefits and impacts of new approaches.
- Mentoring and collaboration also contribute to fostering a culture of continuous improvement, helping the wider team evolve their practice alongside changing tools and expectations.
