Deputy Editor

Public Policy Projects is an events and publishing business operating across health, care and life sciences. We convene experts and key stakeholders through a range of activities, including conferences and round tables, to create actionable improvements to health and care policy. PPP uses a range of publishing platforms to disseminate policy recommendations and thought leadership to an extensive network of influential stakeholders across the public and private sectors.

Reports to: Head of Content and Policy

The Deputy Editor is responsible for the quality, consistency and impact of Public Policy Projects’ editorial output.

Working closely with the Head of Content and Policy, who acts as lead editor for PPP, the postholder will help develop and deliver PPP’s publications and editorial strategy, manage the production and quality assurance of policy reports, commission and create specialist content, and build productive relationships with key stakeholders, including authors, partners and contributors.

The Deputy Editor will also act as Editor of the Integrated Care Journal and will be responsible for its editorial direction, content pipeline, quality and relevance.

This role owns editorial decisions and standards, working closely with marketing to ensure consistent standards and tone of voice across PPP outputs. The postholder will also play a key role in managing PPP’s websites and delivering digital performance reporting.

This is also an external-facing role; we are looking for candidates who are happy to pick up the phone and comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders.

This is a hybrid role. The successful candidate will be expected to work from PPP’s London office in Waterloo at least two days per week.

• Support the Head of Content and Policy in developing PPP’s publications and editorial strategy.
• Translate organisational and policy priorities into clear editorial themes, content plans and publication schedules.
• Identify opportunities for original content and compelling stories that strengthen PPP’s profile and influence.
• Maintain an overview of editorial activity across PPP’s reports, journal, thought leadership, newsletters and other publications.
• Ensure editorial activity is coordinated, purposeful and aligned with PPP’s objectives.
• Lead on the use of AI to improve efficiencies in content production across the editorial strategy

• Provide editorial review, proofreading and sign-off for PPP policy reports, thought-leadership content, marketing materials and other publications.
• Ensure all editorial output follows PPP’s house style, tone of voice and quality standards.
• Improve the structure, clarity, accessibility and impact of complex policy and healthcare content.
• Maintain website pages including report libraries, journal sections, landing pages and other key website areas.
• Prepare and publish articles and reports supplied by editorial and programme colleagues.
• Add internal and external links, cross-references, calls to action and related-content recommendations.
• Ensure content is written and structured in accordance with SEO and generative engine optimisation best practice and assign appropriate keywords, categories, tags, descriptions and other metadata.
• Ensure downloadable reports and supporting materials are uploaded, labelled and organised correctly.
• Write social media posts to promote editorial content
• Act as the editorial contact for PPP’s content-licensing arrangements, including PLS or any successor provider.

• Write, edit, source and commission specialist health and public-policy content.
• Conduct interviews with policy leaders, healthcare professionals, partners and other relevant contributors.
• Produce reports, articles, interviews and summaries arising from online and in-person events.
• Write press release content to launch new reports
• Develop clear briefs for commissioned writers and contributors.
• Provide constructive editorial feedback and manage content through drafting, revision and approval.
