Candidates should have a proven ability to develop sourcing and bring in scoops. Were looking for someone who is calm under pressure in an exciting and competitive beat. Youll need to know the biggest players in the deal making world with a wide network of contacts among the investment bankers lawyers private equity investors government regulators and outside advisers that work on transactions.

Well depend on you to generate scoops and write stories about why they matter all the while collaborating with colleagues across the world. Youll also be expected to write longer-form stories on the City of London and the deals community.

Youll need to prioritise accuracy and attention to detail and have the ability to quickly expand your contact base as you seek to beat rivals to scoops. You should be a newshound by nature who thrives in high-profile beat. Knowledge of financial markets is essential as is the ability to handle sensitive information with confidential sources.

Well trust you to:

- Build up a wide network of contacts to help you break the biggest M&A and IPO scoops

- Deliver accurate market-moving stories based on reliable sourcing

- Generate intriguing analysis and feature stories

- Work well in a team environment collaborating with reporters across the deals team and other parts of the newsroom

- Use a variety of platforms including the terminal web television and magazines

Youll need to have:

- A Bachelors degree or equivalent experience

- At least five years experience in business reporting preferably covering M&A/IPOs

- Experience in a real-time news environment

- Strong work ethic and ability to work calmly under pressure

- Good writing skills with a particular focus on precision and speed

- A collaborative spirit and the drive to innovate and experiment
