About us

At UCL , we believe that where students live shapes how they learn, connect and thrive. Our Accommodation team plays a vital role in creating welcoming, inclusive and supportive communities for thousands of students from across the world.

As part of UCL Estates, our award‑winning Accommodation team manages more than 26 halls of residence across London, housing over 6,500 students each year. From the heart of Bloomsbury to vibrant locations in Camden and Victoria, we are committed to delivering an exceptional residential experience that reflects the ambition, diversity and global outlook of one of the world’s leading universities.

We are now looking for an enthusiastic and customer‑focused Accommodation Advisor to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast‑paced, people‑centred environment and wants to make a meaningful contribution to the student experience.

About the role

As an Accommodation Advisor, you will be one of the first points of contact for students, visitors and partners across our residences, helping to create a safe, welcoming and well‑managed environment for our resident communities.

This varied role combines front‑of‑house customer service with operational and administrative responsibilities. You will support the day‑to‑day running of our accommodation sites, providing reception services, managing resident enquiries, supporting arrivals and departures, responding to issues with empathy and professionalism, and helping ensure our residences are maintained to a high standard.

You will work closely with colleagues across Accommodation and wider UCL teams to deliver an outstanding student experience. From supporting community events and resolving queries, to maintaining accurate records and assisting with operational projects, no two days will be the same.

We are looking for someone who is calm under pressure, solutions‑focused and motivated by helping others. In return, you will join a collaborative and supportive team that values initiative, professionalism and continuous improvement.

Please note that this role is offered on an onsite basis as our accommodation sites across our Bloomsbury campus and requires an Enhanced DBS check.

Please note due to the nature of the role, you will be required to work shift patterns (8am to 4pm or 11am to 7pm) Monday to Friday. There will also be weekend shifts during term time on a Saturday (9am-5pm) on a rotational basis as well as shifts during the summer on both Saturdays and Sundays on a rotational basis.

This role does not meet the requirements for a Skilled Worker visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require a right to work in the UK.

About you

You will bring experience from a customer‑facing environment such as accommodation, hospitality, retail or student services, along with excellent communication and organisational skills. You will enjoy building positive relationships with a wide range of people and be confident handling queries and resolving issues in a professional and empathetic way.

You will be highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and comfortable working at pace while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Experience of administrative processes and confidence using Microsoft Office systems are essential, while knowledge of accommodation or resident management systems would be an advantage.

Most importantly, you will share our commitment to delivering an inclusive, supportive and welcoming experience for every student who lives with us. You will be a collaborative team player with a proactive approach, a strong sense of responsibility and a genuine passion for customer service and community‑building.
