The Eastman Dental Hospital is pleased to be able to offer Specialty Doctor position in the field of Endodontics within Restorative Dentistry for part time position as follows: 0.2 WTE. Enthusiastic new member(s) will work alongside colleagues within an established clinical teaching team and are required. The post-holder(s) will primarily be involved in endodontic service delivery by either:

  • Assessing new patients
  • Undertaking complex endodontic treatment
  • Management of dental trauma patients
  • Supervision of postgraduate trainees at masters and MClinDent level, as well as specialty registrars in restorative dentistry or providing cover for colleagues.

As well as educating trainees with their knowledge and expertise in the field of endodontics, they will be responsible for treatment being carried out safely, to a level appropriate of a specialist hospital and complying with clinical protocols. A postgraduate qualification in endodontics and experience of complex treatment are essential.

Whilst the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a focus towards endodontics, he/she will be expected to be proficient in the delivery of complete restorative care for patients. This will include familiarity with Trust policies, administrative duties and embracing the Trust's vision and values. Depending on the needs of the endodontic service the duties in the job plan may change.

The post holder would need to have good insight into postgraduate training at this level within endodontics and ensure that within post they are compliant with Health Education England Professional Development Framework requirements for clinical supervision.

The main duties include:

  • Provision of high quality specialist care for patients using currently accepted protocols.
  • Could include supervision of postgraduate trainees at Masters and MClinDent level, as well as specialty registrars in restorative dentistry or provide cover for colleagues.
  • Maintaining a high standard of clinical note keeping and communication with patients, referrers and staff.
  • Practising clinical governance to a high standard to ensure the safety of patients, staff and the reputation of the Trust.
  • Ensuring local and national targets for activity are met.
  • Undertaking mandatory training and continued professional development and being aware of any new clinical developments in dentistry.
  • Inputting into departmental/divisional and hospital meetings.
  • Adopting and promoting Trust values and complying with Trust policies.
  • Undertaking annual job planning and appraisal.
