Full‑time Band 4 Dental Nurse in Community Dental Services based at St Leonard's Hospital, Inner North East London (INEL). The role requires working across the London boroughs of Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Newham in a busy environment.
Responsibilities- Provide chair‑side assistance and deliver high‑quality services to patients and visitors, including in domiciliary, homeless centres and the medium‑secure unit mobile dental unit.
- Organise dental kits and materials for domiciliary visits.
- Support the day‑to‑day running of clinics, implementing service initiatives and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards such as CQC, Dental Practice Inspections, SOPs and Health & Safety Risk assessments.
- Ensure standardised practices across all sites and demonstrate strong leadership, working independently, proactively and under pressure.
- Serve as a team leader for specialist chair‑side dental nursing with a focus on special care patients, covering outreach and all dental sites within INEL.
- Maintain a full UK driving licence (if required) and be able to travel between sites.
- QCF Level 3 in Oral Health/Dental Nursing (NVQ Level 3 apprenticeship, BTEC or equivalent international qualification) and current GDC registration.
- Functional Skills at Level 2 (Literacy and Numeracy/GCE GCSE A‑C or equivalent in English and Maths).
- Experience of radiology and a qualification in RA/IV is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and other teams across the Trust.
- Professionalism, effective prioritisation of care delivery in line with Trust policies, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Manual dexterity for assembling equipment, mixing dental materials and holding instruments for the practitioner.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check to identify any previous criminal convictions.
Salary£27,485 to £30,162 a year + 20% Inner London HCA payment, per annum pro rata.
