Job overviewWest Middlesex University Hospital is part of the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, providing a wide range of acute and specialist services to a diverse local population.
The Oral Surgery team delivers comprehensive care across both outpatient and surgical settings, managing routine and complex cases. The service includes elective and urgent pathways, including two-week wait referrals, and works closely with other specialties as part of a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
Currently the team consists of 2 Oral Surgery Consultants (One Cancer Lead) and 2 Dental Nurses.
The team is committed to high standards of clinical care, education, and service improvement, offering a supportive environment for training and professional development.
Main duties of the jobThe role includes participation in elective clinics, two-week wait cancer pathways, consultations, and follow-ups, with opportunities to develop clinical skills and gain experience in theatre.
Education- Full GMC Registration
- Experience in the assessment and management of oral surgery patients in both elective and urgent settings
- Evidence of progress towards a higher clinical degree or specialist training
- Experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients requiring oral surgical care in both outpatient and urgent settings
- Experience in managing oral surgery emergencies, including infection, bleeding, and dental trauma
- Previous experience in a Dental Core Training (DCT) post or equivalent Oral Surgery-focused role
- Strong diagnostic and decision‑making skills for the assessment and management of oral surgery patients
- Demonstrated teaching and mentoring skills
- Awareness of service development and patient pathway improvement
