Apprentice Dental Nurse - Finchley

Introduction

Apprenticeship in dental nursing is a 12‑month government‑funded course by City & Guilds, a Level3 Extended Diploma. Alongside your learning, you will assist dentists, sterilise and prepare equipment, handle reception duties and support the patient experience.

A healthcare provider offering general dental services, from routine check‑ups to more complex procedures such as fillings and restorations.

• Provide efficient and reliable chair‑side support to the dental surgery.
• Reception duties: answering the phone, greeting patients, dealing with queries, taking payments, booking appointments and follow‑ups.
• Sterilise and prepare equipment for dentists.
• Record and manage patient records.
• Support patients’ wellbeing and enhance their dental experience.
• Clean dental areas, including chairs.
• Manage stock of equipment and supplies.
• Assist dentists and the senior team to provide effective patient care.

With experience you may progress to roles such as team manager, team leader or dental practice manager. With further training you could become a dental therapist, dental hygienist, or orthodontic therapist, helping dentists with routine dentistry work and patient care.
