Locum Consultant in Restorative Dentistry
University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – Royal National ENT & Eastman Dental Hospitals (Part‑time, 0.7 WTE).
Closing date: 19 July 2026.
We invite applications for a consultant with commitment to high quality patient care and excellence in postgraduate education/training. The position covers Prosthodontics (0.4 WTE) and Endodontics (0.3 WTE). Candidates must be on or eligible for the GDC Specialist Register in Restorative Dentistry. CV required.
Main duties- Provide comprehensive prosthodontic treatment (fixed, removable and implant‑supported) for multidisciplinary cases.
- Supervise and teach trainees, general dental practitioners and junior staff.
- Deliver head and neck cancer restorative care and contribute to clinical effectiveness initiatives.
- Participate in administrative tasks within the Department and Division.
- Collaborate closely with multi‑disciplinary teams across both sites.
- Professional qualifications
- Full registration with the UK General Dental Council (GDC).
- On the GDC Specialist Register for Restorative Dentistry and/or Prosthodontics.
- Completion of an SAC approved training programme in Restorative Dentistry and/or Prosthodontics.
- Possession of a Certificate of Accreditation or eligibility for a CCST in Restorative Dentistry at date of interview.
- BDS or equivalent.
- MSc or equivalent.
- Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery or equivalent.
- Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Exit Examination in Restorative Dentistry or equivalent.
- M Clin Dent or membership in Endodontics/Periodontics/Prosthodontics.
- Experience
- Considerable experience managing patients with multidisciplinary treatment needs in restorative dentistry.
- Proficient in non‑surgical and surgical procedures in prosthodontics and restorative dentistry including periodontics and endodontics.
- Demonstrated supervision and teaching of postgraduates, junior staff and dental care professionals.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and understanding the interface of treatment across dentistry.
- Skills and Abilities
- Expertise in advanced fixed and removable prosthodontics, implant surgery and related procedures.
- Proficiency in implant‑related surgeries such as bone augmentation, sinus lifts and grafting.
- Knowledge of restorative dentistry theory, evidence‑based practice, and head & neck oncology patient care.
- Familiarity with digital workflows and advanced surgical procedures.
- Strong communication, teamwork and leadership skills.

Salary£113,565 to £150,569 per annum + London weighting pro‑rata (no on‑call commitment).
