An exciting opportunity for a Health and Justice Inspector has arisen within our Health and Justice Inspection Team, supporting the joint inspections within the criminal justice system alongside HMI Prisons, Ofsted, HMI Probation, and HMI Constabulary and other inspection programmes.

Based in our Multiagency Operations, the Health and Justice Team inspect health and care services in prisons, immigration removal centres (IRCs), youth offending institutions (YOI), secure training centres, police custody and community-based youth offending teams. As a Health and Justice Inspector, your findings from these inspections contribute to joint reports and are published as well as being shared with government departments.

To succeed you will be passionate about putting people who use services at the centre of your work. You will need experience of using data and information systems to inform your work. You will be experienced in leading inspections of health or social care settings. In an exciting, unpredictable environment you will need to be confident, flexible and willing to travel to a variety of locations.

You must be able to prepare clear and accurate inspection reports and adept at communicating with both internal and external partners.

You’ll need to have some knowledge, expertise and experience of the delivery of health and social care services in criminal justice settings. You should enjoy building and developing working relationships both internally and externally, working on site as a member of a co-ordinated inspection team, sharing evidence and contributing to the writing and publication of a single joint inspection report.

You must be computer literate and confident at articulating coherent rationales for action based on robust evidence both written and verbally.

Most of all you will be enthusiastic, motivated and willing to work collaboratively as part of the wider health and justice inspection team.
